I have been in love with beautiful websites for forever. When I think about it, they were the reason I got into programming, although not much has turned out the way I like it. But that is how life goes on I guess.
So, websites to me seem like a beautiful collage and the beauty there depends only on someone’s creativity. Elements can be arranged in countless ways and each new page is like a new mini creation. It truly is a wonderful new world with endless possibilities to explore and have a lot of fun along the way.
There is a little catch in creating great website though: they require time. Everything seems not too hard and not too difficult to do, but before you know it hours may fly by without you noticing. And time is something we all seem to lack today (reminds me of the movie “In Time” with Justin Timberlake, really a good idea about time being a currency instead of money. And quite possible in the future).
As for me, I think I could really use a cat’s nine lives to do all the things that I want to do, travel around and master all the skills I would like to develop. I wasn’t so lucky to be born with some crazy talent and just do amazing stuff in half an hour. So time in my case is essential in doing things good.
You have probably asked yourself what would you really want to do if you had enough time. Do you know the answer to that question?
Well for me that would be creating great websites. And I did have an illusion that it is something one person can do. But as things get involved today that is not very much the case. There are so many small thins to be polished around one website, like good writing, good images, good promotion, good coding behind the scene that it really is tough for one person to keep up.
But one can always get help or buy tools or books.
So, lately I have been spending some time on Pinterest and I really like the site – it has calming effects in seeing beautiful things. And so many inspirational things you can find there it’s unbelievable. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words there are a lot of useful information there.
According the concept of Pinterest I would have expected that it would be mostly liked by the male population – being so visual and all. To my surprise Pinterest seems to attract mostly women. Maybe it is the sharing of so many useful, practical and DIY ideas. One could really get lost for hours up there – one thing leads to another then to another and before you know it hours have gone by!
Pinterest really inspires you. I have found a bunch of ideas hanging out there and if I could only find he time to do them all!
So, during my search for a specific post design, I started looking for various grid and row arrangements in WordPress. I did come across some very interesting plugins that would fit great for what I had on my mind, but they all seemed a bit too complicated and time consuming to install. I wanted something fast and easy – does this sound familiar? 🙂
And so I stumbled upon this wonderful webpage that had everything I searched for:
Such an amazingly simple and beautiful way to create a Pinterest like post on your website. Very slick! I like it so much that I decided to dedicate this whole post as a thank you to the person that wrote it!
Here is an example how it all looks like:
