If you know me at all then you will know that I tend to stay away from the kitchen as much as possible. I really don’t know why is that, maybe it is my lack of time or I genuinely don’t have interest in cooking. Interestingly enough I like knitting and maybe I will do more about it in the future.
But there are times when I simply feel obliged to make something in my small kitchen. Something besides pancakes or scrambled eggs or that one pie I know how to make, and which I make approximately 10 times a year.
So, hanging out on Facebook I found this really simple recipe for a quick cookie. It is exactly the kind that I like: no baking and nothing time consuming. Ready in 20 minutes. Perfect for me!
So here I go sharing the recipe and images of what I have managed to do with it. I am definitely inviting guests to celebrate this rare occasion of me actually doing stuff in my kitchen! So I am making large quantities of this cookie.
First of all let me introduce you to my tiny kitchen – fits me and my lifestyle perfectly: easy and quick to clean!
You can see the Rubik’s cube and my little cactus on my front drawer table – because those are the things that belong in a kitchen 🙂
And the little yellow lamb – I always sleep with a light on, and this one can be regulated and I like how at night it lights up subtly the kitchen space without going into my eyes. So although the ceiling light is working normally I prefer this little lamb for night. When I go to bed it gets lowered to a darker mode and again love how it works for me.
What Happened Next?
So I got all excited about me finally using my little kitchen the proper way. And this is what happens: the day before New Year I was working and got home tired and the local shop had 4 loooong queues of people shopping for their holidays. So, not thinking I just bought the most necessary stuff, in a big hurry to get home on warm.
Because the temperature was 17 below the zero!
I also cancelled my New Year celebration party – I was just too cold and too tired. I went into oblivion around 10 pm and got woken up by the fireworks, and I repeat it was a brief moment – and I fell asleep again. Sometimes I am really exhausting myself and it happens that I take a short nap and wake up to find I have slept for 8-9 hours straight!
Ok, so the next day I am all happy and fresh and ready to make my cookies.
It turns out I am lacking:
- Ingredients: and it is too cold outside to even open a window let alone go outside. And let’s not forget the fact that NOTHING is open the first day after New Year’s Eve.
- Tools: oh my god this is the worst.
- Knowledge about the kitchen slang: can’t recognize some words so I am calling people asking about them.
And I give up and decide to make the cookies the first free day from job.
The First Free Day From Job
I start the car, early in the morning, and go to our big shopping malls. Well, I can’t find a single hand nut grinder in this town! I bought the rum – because my cookies are containing this, but a simple manual nut grinder is impossible to find here.
It is really crazy and during my search through the shops I spot some ready made cookies, like the ones I was going to make and I buy a pack. And that is how this story ends – happily!
I am still searching for a manual nut chopper here. I don’t want a blender (yet) because I haven’t done my research on which one is the best and that is reserved for the summer. I love making strawberry shake with yogurt and I am planning on drinking that stuff a lot this summer. When I was a kid, me and my sister used to drink lots of it, so I have sweet memories beside the great taste.
So, hopefully I will find one manual nut chopper – this year – and finally make those cookie balls!
