People I’ve been freezing totally this week on my job! So much that I’ve decided to check the best ways how to stay warm in a cold office. I’ve gathered my findings here – there are some quite interesting and surprising things so check them out.
I work in a big space filled with cubicles and that place is simply very hard to warm up. I don’t mind warmth like during the summer but I can’t stand the cold.
I thought about getting a picture of the way we were dressed just to show you how ridiculous it looks: hats, blankets, winter coats – all on us!
Mondays are especially freezing – and I don’t mean cold I mean freezing. It’s a big building and it cools down during the weekends. I don’t like Mondays anyway and this is the cherry on the top.
Ok so this is what I’ve done to increase my warmth in my office cubicle:
Wear Warm Winter Boots With Thick Soles
Keeping your feet warm is essential in retaining body warmth and feeling comfortable in a cold place. Your feet are in direct contact with the floor which can be a huge warmth drainer if it does not have a good insulation. It just pulls out your body warmth, and you may not feel it immediately – it works slowly but surely. After some time, especially when sitting you will feel the consequences.
I’ve started wearing my warmest winter boots – Timberlands as of this year! and thick winter socks and I feel so much better! Luckily I don’t work face to face with clients so it really doesn’t matter if I am officially dressed or not. I guess that if you do work with clients then your office space must be warm – your company must look good in the eyes of the customers and make them feel good.
Improving my feet wear has really contributed a lot towards me feeling warmer in my office – or cubicle better said.
Thick Winter Socks For Women – In Case You Don’t Have Ones, Extremely Useful!
Get A Blanket -You’ll Be Surprised At How Much It Will Help You Stay Warm At Work Office
I have no idea how I survived so many years without a blanket in my cubicle! At one point someone brought one and that’s how it started. Now all the female coworkers – and some male coworkes as well – have blankets during cold days. We usually wrap it around the waist and it helps so much, I was quite surprised at how good it feels. It not only warms you up but it also makes you feel very comfortable and serves like a soft cushion to sit on.
It is also a bit funny to see all the blanket colors in the office space, kind of makes you feel more cozy at work.
This is pretty much how I look on those freezing Mondays at my work place. And the blanket above is exactly what I have at work only in red color. But I think grey is also a nice color, it will match any clothing good – if you care how you look with a blanket on in your office :).
This blanket comes in 3 sizes and I would choose the twin size for the office: 66 by 90 inches.
The fabric is the same on both sides and you don’t have to think about it when you wrap yourself in it, on whatever side you do it it will keep you warm the same way. So no hassle in choosing the warmer side of the blanket.
It’s a lightweight blanket which is very important for your office work – it will keep you warm and cozy and you will still feel free enough to move your body and not feel restrained by it.
The material is polar fleece which is a super warm material that is used in outdoor camping – this speaks enough about its ability to keep you warm.
If your office is cold you simply must have a blanket there to keep you warm.
And if you need to look good then I recommend getting a poncho (at times I was thinking getting one for myself but since I am not obligated to look too good at work my blanket does the work perfectly):
Keeping Your Head Warm Helps In Keeping Warm In A Freezing Office
If your weak spot is your head then you absolutely must protect it. And you absolutely must have a good looking hat to do this – your coworkers talk to your face and you can’t look funny. It is your work after all and you must show some seriousness about it. Even if it is freezing cold and you need to wear a hat.
This is a nice looking hat in a neutral color that I’ve found but there are a lot of other colors to choose from – this is according to my taste. It will brighten up your face, match any clothing and most importantly keep you warm during working days.
Protect Your Hands From Exposure To Cold In The Office
Keeping your hands warm is a great way to stay warm in a freezing office. Your extremities are the first ones to get cold so even if you are a bit cold your fingers will get cold and this will interfere with your work – assuming you are typing on a keyboard as I am. Typing with freezing fingers is not fun at all.
You could use fingerless gloves but I’ve tried them and they do help but if you are really cold they will as useful as these Kawaii toasty hand warmers.
As you can see you put these on, plug them in a USB port, turn them on and you let them do the magic of warming you up in a very efficient way. They also have an adjustable strap so you can snug them around your hands.
And I just love those smiling faces – a friendly face at work will take away the stress and help you feel more relaxed. Combine this with the warmth that they will produce and the way they will increase your productivity by not having to make breaks to warm up your hands and you have great office hand warmers.
Just make sure you get the Butta hand toasters – they are the ones with the smiling faces.
Go check the pictures posted from other buyers, they will make you smile and lift up your mood :).

A Protective Hand Lotion Is A Must Have During Cold Days At Work
Here is another great product for cold days: it’s an electric lotion warmer. You plug it in and in 2 minutes you will have a warm lotion to put on your skin to keep it fresh and moisturized during winter time. This helps in finger flexibility when you type on a keyboard.
For people with dry skin rubbing moisturizing lotion is an absolute necessity during winter season. I know this best as I am one of them and if I don’t put on protective lotion on my hands even for a day they literally crack open and sometimes those cracks become wounds with blood. Well it gets really bad and it also hurts.
Having a warm lotion dispenser like this one has multiple benefits: you get better penetration of the warm lotion through the skin for better protection and you get a min, mini spa treatment at work which will make you instantly feel better.
It’s also inexpensive so I think it’s a good investment for winter time.
Eat Hot Meals – They Will Warm You Up Inside And Warm Food Always Tastes Better
Eating warm meals will definitely contribute to staying warm in cold office.
At my office place we have food catered to us Monday to Friday. We did have some crazy situations with this catering thing – mainly because people ask for the whole hand when you give them a finger. We’ve changed so many catering companies that I’ve lost count. Anyways the food often arrives warm so I’m covered in this area.
Eating hot meal is so much more pleasurable than eating a cold meal. To help you get your hot meals at work I have found this crock pot that will serve you perfectly for this purpose.
It has a warming base that you can plug in a socket to warm up your food. The base is detachable from the rest of the pot so you can leave at work and just carry the bowl to and from your office. To make the carrying easier it has a handle at the top. This way you can put your daily food at home, bring it to work and when the time comes just warm it up and voila: you have a homemade. healthy and warm lunch at work.
Keeping Your Drinks Warm Is A Good Way Of Staying Warm At Work
And last but not least: a liquid thermos will contribute a lot in keeping you warm at your office place. If you don’t already have one check this one out.
First of all it looks very smooth and nice and it comes in many colors so you can pick your favorite one. It will keep your hot drinks hot for 5 hours – plenty of time to enjoy a slow drinking of your tea or coffee if you are a slow drinker. Speaking of tea it has an inbuilt tea hook for tea bags. Great idea from the designer!
It will also keep drinks cool for 9 hours. 9 hours may be too much for a working day but you can also use it if you do day trips or camping during weekends. The thermos is made of stainless steel on the inside and on the outside.
I have a coworker that likes to bring her own homemade coffee so each morning she arrives at work with her coffee thermos in one hand. This reminded me that this thermos will fit in your car’s cup holder in case you need your special morning coffee like her and it will keep it warm for 5 whole hours.
I highly recommend you get a thermos or your office, it will make your life so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
