And it is nerve wrecking. I just went to a wonderful winter/spring vacation in Bulgaria, Bansko, and it was supposed to be good for my health, you know fresh air, mountains, relaxation… Not to mention the warm sauna and warm pool with whirls of hot water that massage your body…
But as things always go their own way, here I am, taking powder medicine, coughing, my throat hurts and my nose is running like water. I am really pissed about it. I wanted to improve my health not ruin it!
Plus I haven’t been sick all winter! Yes, it’s not fair at all.
So How Was The Holiday?
Except for the being sick part, it has been truly mind refreshing. We had a perfect apartment for real cheap price at the Regnum hotel (little free advertising for them, they really provided a great service). It’s a five star hotel and I must admit I have never had a better accommodation. I never had too much money so I am not used to spending them easily.
The greatest surprise was the 2 room apartment. We paid for two and got 2 rooms: a main one with a kitchen and a big TV (the drug of the modern world of course) and a bedroom one. But nothing compared to the bathroom, it had a button for music! Yes I know there are bathrooms with TV in them and all kinds of gadgets but I have only seen old fashion, simple bathrooms. So it was really great taking a shower with some relaxing music at a push of a button.
I can’t complain about the warmth either! Actually for me it was a bit too warm. My hands even swelled in the evening hours and at times it was too hot to sleep. It was great that the halls were warmed up so when we returned from the spa section through the long hallways it actually didn’t feel cold at all. But maybe my body knows better?
The food was self serving, very fresh and delicious. But some people being what they are, simply can’t get enough of anything. What an ugly sight to see someone filling a plate to the point of food dropping on the floor! So what if it is free? A little decency is priceless.
The little warm pool was located outside so I felt a bit like we are in Russia, bathing on cold weather. And I wonder how I got the cold hm….Or maybe the daily routine work-home got my immunity to a low point?
The weirdest thing about the little warm pool was not it being outside, but because it was very small it actually felt like bathing with strangers! That was really awkward at times.
I loved the sauna and it felt like heaven to my sore respiratory system. It was dark and very warm and nobody could endure more than 15 minutes. It was a small cabin so you couldn’t avoid strangers once again. Tested my s3 galaxy inside and it passed the test :), didn’t melt!
We were lucky to have a clear sunny weather, very clean air. I have forgotten how easy breathing is when the air is perfectly clear. What are we living in, so sad but I will try to keep the happy tone of this post so I won’t talk about it any more.
Visited the ski top on the mountain. Must have felt magnificent to ski on that snow beauty. I could only imagine it, such heaven for the body to spend a day skiing and then come to a pool or sauna in the evening, great tasting food and very good smelling sheets. Oh the bed smelt so clean, it was a real joy to be wrapped in the sheets.
I was happy like a piglet in mud. Brought my laptop for work but who could work there?
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the first day we actually traveled all day through obscure paths guided by Google maps. It really messed us, by choosing only the shortest roads – which were some creepy, mountain roads full of holes. We got really scared at one point, in the middle of a tiny village and only strange, little roads around us and not a soul or car on sight. So be careful with Google maps and if there is an option for showing you only the main roads don’t hesitate to choose it. You know the shortest road is always two times longer!
Energized and revived – that’s me after this holiday (at least mentally)! And I got my fridge magnet from Bansko for my home collection! Looking forward for the next one….
