Chess is a great game not just for adults but for kids as well. Anything that keeps the brain working is worth learning and playing.
Besides the challenge chess is also a fun game. Great for developing logical and tactical thinking. On the moral side it is good for teaching kids how to behave and accept victory or loss.
I use to play a lot of chess when I was little. It was one of our favorite game besides playing cards. The kids from our street would gather up and watch or take part in the game. We had a lot of laughter and good times playing kid chess. So it’s a great game for socializing which is much required today in the digital world we live in.
So maybe you want to teach your kids chess or you know a kid that is into chess. If you are interested in finding good chess gifts for kids then I have done the research – with pleasure as I am a chess lover too – and I have selected a few very good gifts. Check them out, I am sure you’ll like them.
Hand Picked And Carefully Chosen Chess Gifts For Kids
Electronic Chess Set For Beginners
This chess board is perfect for beginners and intermediate chess players. It is because it has a built in system for guiding you through the game. The teaching system includes voice instructions which is perfect for kids.
As you can see this chessboard includes a front part with LED display and buttons on the left and the right side.
To be honest people have described the display screen a bit small and old fashioned but it will do the job. Nothing fancy there but it will do what it is suppose to do.
On the left side there are voice volume controlling buttons and “Enter” and “Esc” buttons. On the right side there are 6 very useful buttons: “Start”, “Help”, “Why”, “Legal”, “Swap”, “On/Off”. I especially like the “Legal” button as it will be extremely helpful for learning the correct moves of the chess pieces.
The board itself is magnetic which is good for kids which tend to be playful and knock the pieces down. Good for travel as well. It is also well labeled and numbered for easy orientation.
What I really like about this chess set is that you can use it for 2 players or just play with the computer. You will have to move both the white and the black figures manually but the display will show the computer’s choice and if you don’t follow a sound will warn you. This gives you a chance to leave the kid to play by itself and do some work. You do have to press the chess pieces a bit harder on the start and end position to let the computer know of the positions.
The best thing about this board is that it has many levels to play with, starting from very easy one that you can use for a kid. To be specific it has 30 chess levels ans 12 chess modes so that everyone can find his level and enjoy a challenging game or a relaxed one. In addition to this there are 100 preset chess exercises that will present you various chess scenarios.
Besides the great tutoring system you will also receive black and white checkers which can be used for 7 other games to play. So you buy one but you get 8 different games available to play. There is a user guide included with instructions. For the chess game I believe the voice guiding system is better though.
Overall this chess set is well made, has great learning system, many skill levels to choose from, offers a variety of games besides chess. It’s perfect for kids socializing and getting them away from the digital devices for a while while still having fun. Very good for teaching a child how to play chess. Combined with the price it’s a very good chess gift for kids. Almost a family gift as well. It will offer plenty of good, quality time spent with your children while they practice logical and tactical thinking.
A Good Chess Book For Kids
Chess is one of the best ways to teach your child logical thinking while still having fun in the process. The main point is not to make the game too harder for the child so that it becomes too heavy and it looses interest. So you need to know the boundaries of how deep into the game can you go with a child.
Here you have a book written by chess experts who are parents at the same time. So you have experts on both fields to teach you the best way to make your child love the game and do logical thinking at the same time.
Giving the child brain challenging games you are creating a person that will have better focus later in life and that will be prone to problem solving. You will be developing the child imagination at the same time. Chess is a perfect game to do all of these things and the best part is that it is still a game. A child always learns best and easiest through a game. It won’t seem too serious but it will still require logical skill development. A great mixture of fun and thinking.
Chess is so much better than the dumb-down app games that are presented today on all sides to our children. Choose wisely the way your child’s brain will develop and don’t let the easy way of commercialized games take the lead.
This book offers great guiding in understanding how to teach a child chess, explaining how the child’s brain works and grows in the process. So besides teaching chess it includes psychological aspects of a little kid brain development so that you can apply the best way for making chess one of your kids favorite games. Oh and you don’t have to know chess to teach it with this book – learn and play together with your child!
